The Legend

Alright, I just had to give this a review when I saw it, for Davy Crockett is one of my favorite historical figures of all time. He encapsulates so many things of American history: the wilderness, the frontier, the Native Americans, the bears, the coonskin caps, and the infamous Battle of the Alamo.

How can I begin to critique this painting when it is so flawless?

I love Davy's face here. It's so rugged and worn, seeming to outline the hardships he's been through and what he ultimately has to face: his death for his country in the Texas Revolution.

I simply can't imagine the skill it must take to be able to paint things like this. The details of his hands and the folds in his clothing and your choice of colors... Beautiful work!
